Extended Warehouse Management

Digitisation of simple to sophisticated and highly complex warehouse processes with the warehouse management system from SAP

Digitising logistics processes with SAP Extended Warehouse Management

SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) is a warehouse management system with which sophisticated, highly complex and automated warehouse processes can be realised. Compared to SAP Warehouse Management (WM), many existing functionalities have been extensively expanded and some new functions have been brought to life. For customers who already use SAP WM, the change to SAP EWM is also worthwhile because the regular maintenance of SAP WM 2025 will be discontinued.

Implementation options include running SAP EWM as a decentralised system or as an integrated solution (embedded EWM) in the ERP. This has been possible since Release S/4HANA 1610.

Our offer in the field of EWM

In order to make your logistics processes as efficient and flexible as possible, we analyse the current state of your business processes together with you in workshops. Thanks to our many years of experience, we know the levers we need to turn in order to optimise your processes so that you can make better use of storage space, shorter distances are involved and workloads are reduced! In the course of process consulting, we jointly define the target situation of your future warehouse management system. Based on this information, we create a rough concept of the discussed process flows.

In the next step, we deal with the technical and functional specifications and create a concept for the necessary customising and development work to optimally map your business processes.

We see ourselves not only as a reliable partner when it comes to process consulting, but we also accompany you transparently and at eye level during your system introduction. We support you from the planning of the migration and roll-out to the actual implementation and integration tests. In addition, we offer training for your key users so that you can use all the potential of the system.

Even after the go-live, we will continue to be at your side and support you with our SLA-based support within the framework of AMS.

Extended Warehouse Management – FAQ

SAP EWM is a standardised warehouse management system that covers all logistical processes from goods receipt and warehousing to picking and shipping. As a component of supply chain management, EWM helps organise, control and monitor goods movements.

  • Storage location management and optimisation
  • Goods movements
  • Personalised workstation
  • Product- and stock-related inventory
  • Planning and monitoring of all stock levels
  • Warehouse control

It is planned that the support of SAP Warehouse Management will be discontinued in 2025, which means that the system can only be used in a rudimentary way. Therefore, it makes sense for customers who already use SAP WM to switch to SAP EWM. Not only because EWM support is more extensive, but also because SAP EWM offers more functions.

  • Optimisation of warehouse processes
  • Reduction of storage costs, including inventory
    and labour costs
  • Improving customer service
  • Increased productivity and accuracy
  • Improved flexibility and scalability
  • Increased visibility of inventory, processes,
    and warehouse automation
  • Easy implementation
  • Extensive functionalities

There are differences in the range of functions and customisation options between the on-premise and the cloud version. However, which option makes the most sense depends heavily on the logistics processes and internal IT and must be considered individually in advance.
